The public prosecutors and their secretaries of a branch of the Tokyo District Prosecutor’s Office are about to have a new prosecutor who is transferred from the local office. Maiko Amemiya (Takako MATSU), 24-year old ambitious secretary, is willing to be assigned to the new prosecutor. And they are all shocked when he comes to the office. Kohei Kuryu (Takuya KIMURA), the new prosecutor of 27 years old, wears casual outfit and has a long hair. Maiko and the others are also surprised to learn his background. After Kuryu finished a junior high school, passed the National Bar Examination by studying by himself.
Kuryu is nothing like the conventional prosecutors, not only his appearance, but also the way he works. Kuryu’s first assignment is the case of the underwear theft. The suspect claims his alibi, and Kuryu investigates the crime scenes and talks to the victims. The underwear theft is a small case that they usually do not take time that much. Yutaka Ushimaru (Takuzo KADONO), the prosecutor and the director of the criminal department, tells Kuryu that he shouldn’t invade into the Police’s territory. Maiko regrets that she has become his secretary, but nobody else can take over her job. The other prosecutors, Misuzu Nakamura (Nene OTSUKA), Mitsugu Shibayama (Hiroshi ABE), Tatsuo Egami (Masanobu KATSUMURA), and the secretaries, Takayuki Suetsugu (Fumiyo KOHINATA) and Kenji Endo (Norito YASHIMA), do not understand Kuryu, either. However, Toshimitsu Nabeshima (Kiyoshi KODAMA), the Assistant Public Prosecutor, seems to believe in Kuryu’s ability and expects him to do a good job.
